November 14 - Chapter of the Day

Hebrews 8

1The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,

2and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man.

3Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer.

4If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already men who offer the gifts prescribed by the law.

5They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain."

6But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises.

7For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.

8But God found fault with the people and said: "The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

9It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord.

10This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

11No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.

12For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

13By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

    GOOD MORNING!!!!!

    i read…

11No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
i really liked this verse. it is basically saying that when we get to heaven, we will not need to teach others about the Lord, because we will already know eveything when we get to heaven. When we get to heaven, we become perfect just like God is perfect.

Hebrews 8:10This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. Jesus has already told and commanded us to do things. We need to respond to Him with obedience. Leviticus 18:4-5 says, “You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God. Keep my decrees and laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them. I am the LORD.” If God created us and rules over us and has commanded us to obey Him, don’t you think it would make sense for us to listen to what He says and also do it. For as James 1:22 says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” We need to respond to God’s commands with full obedience, ready to do anything and everything that He asks us to do. I need to not rely on what I think I should do or what I think is best, but I need to obey what God has told me to do, for He is omniscient (all-knowing) and knows exactly what He is doing. ¡¡¡¡MARANATHA!!!!!! In Christ, SEE

  3. Shani Says:

11No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. - In heaven every one will know God, but on earth we may not all know God.Christians need to be a light on this earth so that everyone will know Christ and make the decission to become Christians or not. I am adding this sentence so it looks longer because this post is extra short.

  4. Jacob C Says:

I enjoyed reading this chapter. Some of the verses had a great meaning. Like verse 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
This is like us before we ever new god. We were wicked. The bible says that all sin is the same to me. So before we repented we were evil people. People are still evil do to their sins. We need to give them the gospel so they are not looked at as evil and so that they are not set apart from god. When I first heard that all sin is the same to god for example murdering and disobeying your parents are the same in his eyes. I thought to myself that I must have been and evil person before I knew god. This is why we were set apart from god but now that we believe in him and his son we are now apart of him due to Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. We need to spread this news with other people.

  5. Nicholas Bonetto Says:

    I liked Hebrews 8:11.
We can’t keep on going around saying, “Know the LORD.” 1, I is not enough to say that. 2, it is EVIDENT that there is a God! God is so complex, creation is complex, there is no way Evolution could happen! I we are going to teach, first you need to be prepared, and just teach the Bible (Nothing extra!). If we are going to teach, spend time in prayer about it. (Spend time in prayer about Everything!) If you are not being used by God and going through trials, ask Him about it, if there is a distraction, get rid of it. The LORD deserves your hard! Don’t ignore God and His commands, LIVE IT OUT!!!

    !!!MARANATHA!!!

  6. grace Says:

12″For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
i really like this verse because it is SO amazingly comforting! Thank you Jesus for how inceridble you are in saving us…such a blessing!

i like the whole ch…it was great. :)

  7. SAB =] Says:

10This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. We need to obey God 24/7 but since we are not perfect, we still need to strive towards perfection.

11No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. I thought that this was good because many people know the lord, but may not have put their faith in Him. For example. Satan knows that the Lord exists, but he obviously isn’t a Christian. We need to share the gospel with others.

12″For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” I also thought that this verse was amazing because it reminds us of God’s grace and how he will forgive and forget our sins.

  8. Miranda Burke Says:

Good Morning my chums. I like reading in the morning, it starts my day. Anyways i read…

10This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
Basically this verse is saying that their is no excuse for sin. Man is sinful, but God gave us a knowing of right and wrong. This verse is also saying that God is our God. Even if the world does not believe in Him, He still is their God and they are still His people who He loves.

v.3-4 Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer. 4 If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already men who offer the gifts prescribed by the law
This verse means that we are not perfect. We can’t do things like God can. For instance we need to sacrifice or give up things to God like our time or our actions and words. When we get to Heaven we will not need to make sacrifices because we will be perfect like God.

Keep up the posting guys! And the encouragment! And I will see you all on Sunday for another great message.

  9. Joy Says:

12For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

This verse is reminds me how loving God is. God forgives ALL our sins and ALL the bad things we’ve done. He doesn’t hold grudges either. This verse also helps me to remember to be like God and to forgive easily.

  10. ŦƦƸƔƟƦ ȞƟŜӺƟƦƉ Says:

10This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people

wow this verse is such a great verse, the perfect and holy unchanging God has promised us that we will be his people. God is the creator of everyything, we cant even imagine how large and powerfull he is and he chose to love me and pick us tiny puny incopitent human beings to be his, that just makes me feel so special, and to think that God loves us more thn we can imagine give me a great hope that when I get to heaven I will be able to understand how much he loves me :)

I will c u all at church on saturday and remeber GOD LOVES U MORE THAN WE CAN IMAGINE

  11. Sue Hosford Says:

    v. 10: “I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts.” I’m so greatful that God allows us to draw near to him. It’s amazing that he comes near to us, but he does. No longer do we have to go to someone else (a priest) to know God and worship him. We have his Spirit living in us.

    v. 12: For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Praise the Lord! We need to go before God daily and repent of our sins to be given the forgiveness he offers. Sometimes I struggle with the guilt of my sin, but God has said he will remember it no more!

  12. Ashley B Says:

    I learned…

    V. 8-12 are quoted from Jeremiah 31:31-34
-This tells us that God keeps His promises to us and we can fully trust in Him with our lives and in His word because, the new covenant is Christ!

    v. 11
No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
    - Everyone will have the Lord written on their hearts, this verse reminded me of Titus 2:11-12, the verses I had to memorize for the last chapter in parters which reads ” For the grace of God which brings salvation has appeared to all men, it teaches us to say “no” to ungodliness and worldy passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.”
Everyone has the truth written on their hearts, but not everyone will respond and act or apon this truth, how awesome is it that God has choosen us for salvation!

God’s new covenant in Christ, is greater than the one made before, it is the perfect plan designed by God, because He does not want anyone to perish, but to turn to Him in repentance.

Our God is perfect and holy :]

  13. Ashley B Says:

Grace, I am so glad to see you on here today!

  14. Brian Moon Says:

I read this chapter, it is little confusing.
I do have to remember this was written to Hebrew.

13By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

this verse has me little confuse. who is he? it is not captalized. so I assume it is not God, or is it.

  15. {\/}ak G Says:

nothing in this passage relates to me right now because the only thin i saw was what shani said. good job!

  16. Janie Says:

10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

The Law that was given to Moses on Mt. Sinai was meant to open the Israelites eyes to their own depravity & the holy, righteous standards of God. Even if a person “keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.” (James 2:10)

We cannot strive to be perfect through our own righteousness…it will never happen & we will end up in HELL. But thanks be to God that He sent Jesus Christ to live a perfect life on our behalf & died the death our state of sin deserves…He became the AUTHOR of the New Covenant, that allows the laws of God to be “in our minds and written on our hearts” through the indwelling Holy Spirit that we receive when we repent (surrender) and turn to Jesus Christ as our mediator and “High Priest”. We then desire to follow the truths found in Scripture, longing to please God by living righteously…and because we now have been given the righteousness of Christ, we have the “ability” to be holy, as He is holy ~ longing for the DAY when we will be perfected in our glorified state in Heaven.

  17. J+A+K+E+B+O+S+W+E+L+L+ Says:

Hebrews 8:11 No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, “Know the Lord,” because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
    +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+
I like this verse cause it is saying that all will bow down to the Lord when the time comes and that nobody can hide from that and like Janie said we need to Hope for that day.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!M+A+R+A+N+A+T+H+A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.

this verse was cool, i liked it because it explains to us how sometime everybody will know Christ and God. Even the “least of them to the greatest”

    c u all whenever

  22. Francesca Staggs has a long name because the doesn't want to disappoint Jake and his want to start a long name train! :) Says:

    I like verse 12!!!!

God is so merciful! He has forgiven us of our sins! We deserve nothing because we are sinners, yet the Lord loves us enough to forgive us! He died for us and forgave us so that we could go to heaven! He died so that we could have our sins washed away. He is so amazing!!!

I can’t wait until church this weekend!!! :)

  23. Francesca Staggs wrote the wrong word in her long name and wants to make it known that she actually can spell! Says:

I wrote THE instead of SHE in my long name… :P

  24. charity hardaway Says:

11No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.

i think that it is awesome that if we know Jesus, and live our lives for Him, we will go to heaven praising Him 24/7!!!!!!!!

12For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

We are for sure sinful ppl, but because of God, our sins are forgiven! GOD is so great!!!!!

  25. BoBbIe GeNe LiTz :) Says:

COME ON!!!! WHERE R ALL THE POSTS?????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(((((

  26. Michael Miyoshi AKA Little Buffalo, Mr. Miyagi, Miguel, Miyoshi is going to continue the long name train and says thanks Jake and everyone who agrees with him that the long names were fun and who is doing them and now for my post Says:

In this chapter the writer of Hebrews is talking about the old and new covenants the writer is saying that the old covenant AKA being Jewish is now obsolete since the people turned away from Him now all of us get o live in the new covenant of Jesus Christ since we all get to be in this new covenant we should all praise God for His great love and for sending down His Son for us

See ya at Church!!!! MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COME O LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. P.J. Says:

    I read…

    Hebrews 8

Whoa, never knew Hebrews was so confusing…at least for me. Not a lot to comment about, other than it is mainly talking about the distinguishment bewteen the old and new covenants, and why there was a transfer. Although, I did like verse twelve, “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” This verse just reminded me of the kindenss of God, and of the humility that Jesus showed during his time on earth.

  28. P.J. Says:

Wow, only twenty real posts…. :/

  29. morgan zinn ;} Says:

This are two of my favirot veares that stould out to me!
8But God found fault with the people and said: “The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

12For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.
He always forgives us know matter what it is.

MARANATHA to all that have repentited.

  30. Miranda Burke Says:

Yess you guys. I agree with P.J. we need more posts.

  31. Kaylene Says:

11 A man will not teach his nieghbor anymore. And he will not teach his friend anymore. He will not say,’Know the Lord.’ Everyone will know me. From the least important of them to the most important, all of them will know me.

I like this verse because it says that there will be a time when EVERYONE on earth will be a christian. We won’t need to tell other people about Christ because they would already be a chrstian even the people who are really poor and the least important.

  32. Annie Says:

11No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.

12For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

We each will know God in Heaven, and it won’t matter who we are, what we wear, or what we say. I cannot wait for the day I go to join my Father in Heaven. He also has already forgiven us for what we have done, small or big, even though God counts them as the same things.

  33. |3rennan Says:

12For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

I liek this verse because it tells us that God will always forgive our wickedness and he hates the sin not the sinnner

  34. Jordan Says:

10This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

This verse reminds me that I am a child of God. Its awsome to know that Jesus Christ died and rose again and interceed for us to the Father. Its great that Jesus took away my sin so that talk to the father and have communion with the holy spirit.

  35. nicole waymire agrees with the couple people with the long names and wants to do it too! great job for the people that are posting! im trying to do it everyday! POST POST POST! and here is my post...: Says:

    heyy everyone!

welll…nothing in this passage really just STUCK out to me so i have a feeling this will be a shorter post. i guess i liked verse 12 though: “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” like a lot of people, it just goes to show that God really does forgive and forget our wickedness/sin. God is awesome and, after we have truely repented for our sins, we cant beat ourselves up for it over and over. if you do, i dont think you have truely repented, i know i have done that. well im so happy to see lots of my friends on here :) and even people i dont really know. GOOD JOB PEOPLE! keep it up and i know God is smiling at this page.

    GOD BLESS

  36. taylor :) Says:

12For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
i like this verse because it says that God forgives our wickedness and forgets abou it! that is really comforting to know that our GOd forgives our sins and forgets about them no matter how many times we mess up!

  37. Lizzy Says:

    I Read!!! but its late.
    I liked verses 11 and 12:

11No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
12For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

I liked this because it shows how we should not judge our neightbor and be content. Also it shares how God will forgive our sins.

  38. Alyssa Smith Says:

I liked verses 11 and 12. It’s saying that because we are Christians, we will try to forget the wrong things that our neighbors have gone and just keep living the life God wants you to live.
