Striving for Academic Excellence
Through this tutoring program, True North seeks to partner with parents and teachers throughout Orange County and help high school students maximize their success in the classroom. Every Monday evening, high schoolers have an opportunity to get subject-specific help from credentialed, experienced high school teachers and qualified tutors.
Study hall is open from 5-7pm for independent work or group projects. At all times a teacher will be available to answer basic math or English questions.

Tutoring meets every Monday from 5-7pm with the exception of the following Mondays:

In 2012, Mr. Sherreitt retired from teaching after 39 years. he was one of the original teachers at El Toro High School and spent his entire career there. Mr. Sherreitt attended Point Loma Nazarene University and received his undergrad in Christian Ministry, then earned his math credential from UCI. He taught many different math classes while at El Toro, including Algebra 1 & 2, Math Analysis, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus.
Ms. Horton earned a Masters Degree from UCI in Spanish Literature and Literary Criticism. For the past 18 years she has taught on all levels of Spanish in several colleges in Southern California. Currently Ms. Horton teaches at Saddleback College, IVC, OCC and Fullerton College.
Mr. Kelley is a current professor of math, statistics and business courses in the School for Professional Studies at Vanguard University of Southern California, since 1996. 35 years experience in business with primary focus of interactive consultation with small business owners. Have a BA from University of Washington and MBA from Pepperdine University. Upon graduating college, served as a US Marine Corps pilot for 5 1/2 years. Attended CBC since summer 2011 and current participant in MBS and CLASS.
After earning Bachelors and Masters degrees in Engineering at the University of California at Irvine, Roger Schumacher has spent 5 years practicing as a Civil Engineer and 21 years at a Structural Engineering software firm, RISA Technologies, Inc, where he works doing technical engineering programming. He has also taught classes in engineering programming at UCI as a guest lecturer, and has done private tutoring in math and science. Roger has been married for 26 years and has 3 boys, all of whom he participated in homeschooling in math and science through grade 8.
