Important Information:

  • Missions Night: On Sunday, October 15 we will be having a special Missions Night at the church. Shannon Hurley, founder of SOS Ministries, will be sharing with us all the Lord is doing through this ministry. This would be a great event for your group to attend together! Dinner will be provided, so please make sure you RSVP.

  • Navigating Motherhood: NavMo will resume on September 28th and 29th.  If anyone in your group knows a young mom who would benefit from attending NavMo, please encourage them to sign up!

Application Questions:

1. Read Psalm 139:23-24.  How would you explain to a new Christian the work of becoming increasingly aware of one’s motives?  How would you go about helping him be more honest with God about why he does what he does?
2. Read 1 Timothy 6:3-10 and Matthew 6:24.  Why does it make sense that a life driven by desires to secure more riches and material wealth will never be truly useful to advance the spiritual growth and maturity of God’s people?
3. Read Romans 1:28-29.  Define “covetousness” (see Exodus 20:17).  Why do you think God included this particular sin in the Romans’ list of what is described as a “debased” mind?  Why is it such a big deal?
4. Read 1 Corinthians 15:10.  How does Paul’s work ethic, in his tentmaking job and in all his ministries, motivate you to make sure “God’s grace” toward you is “not in vain?”
5. Read 2 Corinthians 8:9.  How would you grade the state of your generosity?  What can you do to imitate more of Christ’s excelling generosity for the good of his people?
